Translators are not human

Today, was the most boring day, because we had no internet connection at the work. Plus, I finished all my translations and was waiting for another one to come, but an expert who had to bring it was pretty late. Therefore, all I could is clean my laptop from old files and rename the existing ones. With this laptop, I neither could play, nor watch any movie, because it's pretty obsolete and cd-rom is not even working. Everyone was bored...
Finally, I received the material, around 25 pages, at 16:45. I did only 3 pages and when time came to leave, I said good-bye to our local boss. But, he stopped me and told me to fiish this material until tomorrow 15:00. I told him that it's impossible and that I am a human and not a machine, but he said that I had a whole night in front of me, but I told him that he will receive it only the day after tomorrow and started walking out of the office. Once again, he stopped me and said that I will do what he says, I was so damn enraged, but I could do nothing. Trying to reason with him is like talking to the wall, this man doesn't even knows what translating is. Anyway, I did nothing at home and was expecting his full rage tomorrow...

Listening to classical music

On Monday we all went to the new conservatory to listen to some piano. As we were told some French composer arrived and we thought that it is worth of visiting. Though, we were all mistaken, Ok the classic part was good, but improvisation was unbearble. Plus, I prefer listening to violin, anyway i didn't enjoyed the concert and could hardly sit there till the end. Also, it was so damn cold. One could see, that an audience also could hardly sit till the end. Well, next time I will first find out about the composer or musician and then will go to such concerts.

Party at "Sayyor" restaurant

Today we supposed to celebrate the succesful realization of an international conference. Unfortunately, our ladies couldn't join us and we had to go to the "Sayyor" restuarant by ourselves. However, some two girls from other offices joined our company and we continued our celebration. The place was crowded and looked more like a tavern, then a restaurant. The lights were bright, so this place also wasn't a good place for dancing. Next to us was a celebration of a little girl's birthday, so we felt like guests invited to her birthday party, because half of the songs were dedicated to her. To be frank, I didn't liked this place that much. But the most frustrating thing was that after eating some salads we decided to order some "real" food, but the waiter came and told us that there is no gas and therefore they can only serve us "shashlyk". Me, personally, I hate shashlyk, but I had no other option to choose from. It's really strange, a place like this and no gas, however, there's also nothing to wonder about. The thing is that for over a month there is a real problem with petrol in Uzbekistan. It's so damn hard to get petrol in the capital, I am not speaking about regions, prices there sky-rocketed and no one knows where all the petrol has gone. Plus, it's getting colder and sometimes one may need to catch a taxi and now it's not that easy to catch a taxy. If before all you had to do is to raise your hand, then now you have to wait for some five to ten minutes. Well, I hope that this problem will be solved ASAP.
Now back to the "Sayyor", there were also some Korean tourists and they were filming everyone and everything. One of those tourists was soo old that it was funny to see him shooting belly-dancers from close range :)
I went home with Muzaffar, but I told him to leave me somewhere on the road, because I knew that he was also short of petrol and i just caught a taxi and came home.

International conference "Bicameral parliament and mass media"

Finally I am back online, I was so busy these last days that I actually had no time to make any posting on my bloggie. Well, today we carried out a huge internatinal conference "Bicameral parliament and mass media". It was held in one of the hotels of Tashkent, called "Le Grande Plaza". The conference started at 9:30 in the morning, I was waiting for the guests outside, in order to show them the way to the conference hall. We had lots of guests from different media organizations, including from foreign embassies. My task was to print out the nameplates for the guests, whose name wasn't on the list. And the hard thing was that I had to run from the 2nd floor to the 1st and the printer was located in the other end of the building. However, the most pleasant thing with the conference, was that I met my old friends and also met some new people.
The conference was over by 16:30 and we were told to go home and to have a rest. But, my boss asked me to stay, because out team leader was invited to a lunch and I was to translate. However, thankfully there was nothing to translate and I could have some good rest.
I came home and all I could do was just sleep, because I was darn tired and had a terrible headache. I hope that tomorrow will be much better...
