Preparations for my wedding

For almost a week we've been moving things from one room to another and making some repair works in the house. My father decided to give his room to us (me and my wife) and we had to move his entire library to my room. All this moving of books took about two-tree days, 'cause there were lots of books. Then we removed all his furniture, laid down a new floor, painted it and were about to bring in my bedroom and some furniture. So now our house looks like some gipsy's shack, all the carpets piled in one corner, sofa and chairs in another, man it looks so terrible and there are only 10 days left to our wedding. Plus, yesterday I went to buy myself a suit, shoes and a shirt. Quite expensive stuff, I have to admit. On the top of all of those problems, my fiancee called me yesterday and told me that a dean of her faculty instead of giving her special reference papers, which are necessary for her transfer from Samarkand Medical University to the Tashkent Academy of Medicine, tore papers that she gathered for obtaining this reference paper. She was almost crying and we were in need of this paper, so I called my dad and asked him to call to some people and ask for their assistance in solving this problem. He called directly to the mayor of the city and he called to her university leadership, so when she came home they called her and asked her to come to the varsity immediately. She said that when she came in they were all frightened and were asking her to notify my dad that everything's all right and that they are going to assist her in all the possible ways. Anyways, she got this paper and sent it to me this morning via cab from Samarkand to Tashkent. I hope that this transfer will take place without any additional problems.
Now, all I have to do is to move all the furniture in our new bedroom and to go to Samarkand in the end of the coming week.

Skype me

Yesterday i installed Skype and found how great it is. I wanted to use it for improving my Spanish and already found some ladies from Latin America willing to help me. At first i experienced some problems with my headphones' microphone, but then I fixed this problem with the help from a nice lady from Costa Rica.
This morning I also played a little bit with Skype calling different hispanohablantes, found some people, but most of the were already busy talking with someone. I also wanted to talk with somebody in English, but most of the people I found were offering sex on webcam and things like that, which is not what I was looking for. So, if you want to talk to me, just call me via Skype: t-moor. :))

Brainbench Personality Assessment Test

Your Social Boldness: Introverted VS Extraverted

You are moderately introverted. I bet you hear this a lot, "You are so nice." That is because you do not have a brash, bold personality, instead you are warm and friendly and a pleasure to be around. You are not into the wild, crazy nightlife scene. To you a nice social atmosphere tends to be a quieter, more comfortable place where you can spend time with good friends. Your cooperative nature is especially pleasant in a group atmosphere where decisions must be made. You may not always be the person who initiates conversations or talks first in a meeting, but when you have something important to say you are willing to share it. At times you can be shy, but this does not mean that you are being standoffish, just that you are cautious and need time to assess the situation.

Your Agreeableness: Candid VS Considerate

You are very considerate. You are a popular person, aren't you? Of course you are. You truly value harmony in dealing with others. People recognize your friendly, generous, and helpful personality. Your easy-going, agreeable nature makes you such a joy to be around. This is especially true in meetings or general conversations. The topic may become heated, but you are considerate of other's feelings and you will find a happy medium in order to placate those around you. This is because you have an optimistic view of human nature and you realize that if you trust people with their decisions that they are not trying to hurt you or take advantage of you. This special and rare quality is also seen in your altruism. You enjoy helping others. To you it is not a sacrifice; to you it is fulfilling to help others in need.

Your Self-Control: Impulsive VS Cautious

You are very impulsive. You are an independent thinker. You do not need a book of rules to tell you how to behave - you know inside what is right and what is wrong and you act accordingly. You are able to live life spontaneously, because you are able to make decisions without endless deliberation. In fact, when you and another person are making a decision, you are able to reach a solution fairly quickly while the other person has to cautiously plan every step (I disagree with this a little bit). Eventually, they will agree with you, which is frustrating when your first impulse is usually the correct one in the decision-making process. You tend to be a little more casual, and you do not feel out of sorts when your home or office is not perfectly neat. In general, your life is pleasurable - you know how to have fun and will never be accused of being staid or stuffy.

Your Anxiety Level: Excitable VS Relaxed

You are quite excitable. You do not like stressful situations. You tend to react emotionally to stress, which can lead to bad moods, or even anxiety, anger, or depression. You like to be treated fairly, and may become upset if you sense that someone is trying to cheat you. You may find urges and cravings irresistible to the point that you are giving into them even if you know you will regret it or feel guilty later. Sometimes you may feel uncomfortable in social situations, even thinking that others are judging you. This self-consciousness may show through as shyness, because you do not want people to think poorly of you. You tend to worry and are apprehensive in unfamiliar circumstances.

Your Openness to Change: Practical VS Imaginative

You are moderately practical. You tend to be more comfortable when your daily activities are familiar and unchanging, rather than constantly in a state of flux. You prefer to deal with facts and not ideas. You prefer to be more practical and pragmatic, but you are able to be creative when the situation calls for it. You prefer the conversation or situation to be more straightforward. Emotionally, you are more conservative and tend not to express your feelings openly. You have a proper demeanor, which summons respect from those around you.

The way you Think/Reason: Concrete VS Abstract

You are quite abstract in your thinking. You tend to be quick to grasp ideas, are a fast learner and intelligent. You possess a hallmark of intelligence that potentially separates human beings from earlier life forms, the ability to think about future consequences before acting on an impulse. Your reasoning activity involves contemplation of long-range goals, organizing and planning routes to these goals, and persisting toward one's goals in the face of short-lived impulses to the contrary. You also have keen interests in intellectual matters and love to play with ideas and think theoretically. You tend to be open-minded to new and unusual ideas, and like to debate intellectual issues. You often enjoy riddles, puzzles, and brainteasers. (1) The report sent to your computer screen upon the completion of this assessment is only a temporary web page. When you exit your web browser you will not be able to return to this URL to re-access your report. A copy of the report is emailed directly to you when you complete the assessment. (2) Personality traits describe, relative to other people, the frequency or intensity of a person's feelings, thoughts, or behaviors. Possession of a trait is therefore a matter of degree. We might describe two individuals as extraverts, but still see one as more extraverted than the other. This report uses expressions such as "extravert" or "high in extraversion" to describe someone who is likely to be seen by others as relatively extraverted. (3) Please keep in mind that scores on a personality assessment are neither good nor bad. As with any personality inventory, scores and descriptions can only approximate an individual's actual personality. Questions about the accuracy of your results are best resolved by reviewing and discussing your report with people who know you well.

PS: Just took this test and found out that 90 % of what is written here is just about me :)

I don't have Anti-semitic views, but...

I am not Anti-semitic, but I hate Israel's policy in Palestine and its war against Lebanon. As to Palestine, I think they don't have any right to go to Palestinians land and claim it, just because Holy Tora says so, it's ridiculous. The same thing is about their war against Lebanon. So many innocent civilans are dying every day. For what? And look how the USA is reacting to this, they seem to be pleased, 'cause I don't see any serious condemnation.
In any case, the Israelis hold true to their opinion. But, look how many Palestinians or Lebanese are dying everyday for nothing, do you think it's easy to be a suicide-bomber, for Europeans or those leaving in a rich country, they seem to be terrorists, but we have to understand them. They don't have any tanks or helicopters like Israelis do, so they are forced to do this, to blow themselves, and to those who think that Islam supports this or Koran says go and blow yourself all I can say, you're very blind my friends. Of course, I am not trying to take side with their actions, nor I am supporting them, I am against this mean of solving problems. But, since there is no way to eastablish a cosntructive dialogue, these bombings are going to continue.
What if, the tables were turned and it was Lebanon, which was waging war against Israel and killing innocent people. In this very situation, I think, the US would be the first, who'd rush to help Israel. This is what I call the policy of double standards. So, until we will live under such standards, there will be no peace and concordance between the East and West!!!
Some years ago, when I was working for the BBC Monitoring, I had a very heated online debate with some US neoconservative on one of the Runboard forums. I came across his post, in which he called all the Muslims as 'terrorists' and 'dickheads'. Of course, I am not a very devoted Muslim, but I just couldn't leave this matter, so I logged online and tried to reason with him, but all I was receiving insults. He was saying that if I am a muslim, than I have to wage a Holy war against all the Christians and kill them all. I told him severla times, that here in Central Asia, we have a very different form of Islam, we have a very tolerant and peaceful Islam. We have mixed marriages, between Muslim and Christians, we have lots of churches and no one is killing or insulting any Christian. To this, he kept saying that in this case I am not a true Muslim myself and that Muslim will kill me too. We had this discussion for about four hours and I couldn't explain him anything. And the most unpleasant thing that our discussion ended with him insulting me and calling me a "dung-eater" and "camel-f***er". Well, how can we explain to such people that Islam is not evil.
Another example is that one of my US online girlfriends was a little bit afraid of talking to me, because her friends were saying that I am Muslim and therefore, I am dangerous. Well, these are just few examples of how West sees Islam and how being a Muslim, will be something like being a jew in Nazi Germany. of course, I am in no way defending or supporting fundamentalist movement of Islam, I think that these people should be all locked up in some place.
Well, I seem to be moving out of the subject, now back to Israel and Palestine issue. Now I can see a trend on any newspaper, mainly British, that if anyone criticizes Israel, he's got labelled to be Anti-semitic, but its wrong, in any democracy criticism also has to accepted and not rejected like Israelis do. As to Sharon, I think that he's leading his so-called Jewish state to downfall, I can see it and I also can see that there are lots of Jews supporting Palestinians and I respect them for their courage to stand up against their own state's genocide policy, which I call a neo-Holocaust, if u think that my point is wrong, then let's discuss it!!!

Testing first blog post with Deepest Sender

Just installed "Deepest Sender" Firefox exntension, which allows you to post without going to the web site, right from inside of a separate window of your browser. Seems quite a handy tool I should say. Well, let's see now, how it works...

New browser - Flock

Well, in the office I was using Opera 9 browser, but it has so many bugs that I decided to find some good substitution. The thing is that here we have access to internet via proxy, therefore some browsers just don't work here, the same case for the Netscape and Firefox (which i use at home). That's why, i decided to try a new browser, based on the Mozlla Firefox platform, called Flock. I have to say that this browser started functioning without any problems, even though that it was a beta version. It is much faster than Opera, has no bugs at all, also has lots of good built-in tools, which, for instance, you have to add as an extension to the Firefox browser. I have to draw your attention that it has a very good tool, which allows you to make post to your Blogger blogs without going to the website, right from the window of your browser. This tool is similar to a special Mozilla Forefox extension called: Deepest Sender. Also it has a very good RSS feed viewer, which is much better than the same viewer in Opera or even in Firefox. So, I want all this Opera fans move to this browser, which is thousand times better than Opera and to some extent, ten times better than Mozilla Firefox :)

Blast from the past

Today I decided to take a look at my old diaries, which I used to keep on the paper before moving to blogging online. I started keeping diary back in 1999 after reading a Russian novel about a girl, who kept a diary and since then I kept diaries on paper until 2004. So, in one of my diaries I found a letter from a girl, with whom I never met, but who was in love with me, we used to talk by the phone. She lived and I guess, still lives in Samarkand and i am in Tashkent. We used to talk a lot by the phone and somehow she fell in love with me and with this letter she wanted to tell me how strong her feeling are or were at that time. It was really interesting to read these notes, especially now, since I am getting married and I have found a true love of my life.
I remeber her calling me some weeks after i received her letter and telling me that she's getting married and that she won't marry that man if i marry her, it was kinda strange and unexpected. Well, at that time I was too young for getting married and wasn't sure about her feelings, plus I still haven't seen her. So, now reading her letter and notes saying that she'll never forget me and will do everything in order to be with me, that she'll be in touch with me until the end of time, I understand that at her age these words seemed true and she really believed that we'll be in constant contact with her. Though, now I don't even remember her name, well anyway it was interesting to read this letter and remeber those times. But now, I have a forthcoming wedding, which is a major event in my entire life :)

PS: I promise to post my best wedding pictures on my blog, for all you folks to see!!!

Less then one month...

Well, soon, to be precise on 9 August, I am getting married and I am very excited about this great event in my life. A new person is going to enter my life, as well as I am going to enter her life. I really hope that everything will be all right for both of us.

Now, I have to get a new suit and also we have to prepare invitations for the guests. Our wedding will be held in Samarkand, in the Bakht-Zilol restaurand, from which one may see Registan in its full beauty. So, now I an in some kind of excited mood.

However, there are also some bad news, soon our project will be closed, some say in August, some say in September this year. That's why, now I have to find a decent job, I really hope to find one. Anyway, as I love to say: time will tell.

Ancient Christian inscriptions found in Uzbekistan

Eastern-Sogda Archaeological Expedition of the Science Academies of Ukraine and Uzbekistan found a new epigraphic monument – inscriptions in Sogdian language (Iranian language, close to Persian and Tajik) with the use of Armenian graphics (language close to today's Hebrew) - during the excavations of the early medieval Christian monastery in Urgut district of Samarkand region. The ancient engravings like these are a unique discovery. There are only a few of them in the world. Now their number has increased by around twenty.

Two years ago, local residents were building a road in Urgut mountains and a bulldozer hit the side of a hill. The cut opened up the finding that required the involvement of archaeologists.

The monastery was built in the late 9th century and existed approximately until the 13th century. A Zoroastrian temple Jar-Tepe and a temple of a pagan deity Aspan who could be the protectress of Urgut were located nearby.

In the mountain cave, near the monastery engravings in Sogdian and Syrian languages were found. One inscription used Chinese hieroglyphs, and scientists suggest that it could be written by some palmer from Sinjan. The world knows only one such monument discovered in 1922. These are "visitors'" notes, such as such and such (a Syrian name with the title of an ecclesiastic was here, as well as sentences like "good weather" or "it's snowing".

The monastery has survived intact. It appears that the structure has suffered neither fires nor attacks. The monument is in ideal shape: if it is dug out and restored, it will be good to stay in. The monastery is located at the top of the hill, on the mountain terrace with the area of 25 by 100 meters. A river runs by the two sides of the hill. The monks dug a tunnel 150 meters long and took water directly from the river through ceramic water pipe to the monastery wells 13-15 meters deep. The walls of the monastery are built with double brickwork from adobe bricks. The walls are four meters high. This monumental structure was a good protection against mudflows and landslides. All the common futures of monastery architecture that has its roots in Mesopotamia and Syria are evident. The most interesting is the fact that the structure is built from the adobe brick, although originally such structures were made of stone.

Scientists think that from the very beginning the ancient structure was being built according to a general plan: it has many subtle architectural details, the floor is covered with thin ceramic tiles of high quality and a layer of alabaster, the walls have fragments of paintings.

Preved medved - Racism :)

Strange thing

I noticed a very strange thing here on the Blogspot. Which is when I post two items on the same day in Russian language, one of them just disappears, because they have a similar url ending. So, I am forced to write in English ;)

Dilemma

Well, I am lost now. The moment I stopped writing in English, I received many questions. I think, I am going to write now in three languages. I have no other choice folks :) It will now depend on my mood, sometimes I want to write only in English and sometimes only in Russian...

Zuhra

Estoy queriendote mas y mas...Espero que todo va a ser bien pa'nosotros!!!
